1846-D/D
D over D Mintmark
Mintage: Part of 80,294

The 1846-D/D half eagle is a very popular variety within the Dahlonega series because of the ability to see the D over D mintmark with the naked eye. The surfaces and the strike on this date are average in quality. Luster and coloration (green-gold to intense coppery orange-gold) can be above average when compared to the 1846-D. The frosty luster seen on this date is often superb. Most high grade, problem free specimens of the 1846-D/D half eagle have above average eye appeal. Less than 145 specimens exist with fewer than 11% being Mint State.
