Weight: 64.5 grains Fineness: .900

The perfect Dahlonega quarter eagle for a type set. Many 1848-D quarter eagles have above average surfaces, a strong strike, and luster that is very frosty and attractive. Coloration ranges from orange-gold to coppery-gold to bright yellow-gold on orginal, uncleaned specimens. All these qualities help give this date great eye appeal. There are two known die varieties. Roughly 165 specimens exist with less than 8% being known in Mint State.
