The 1846-D/D quarter eagle is a very underrated and undervalued coin. As collectors of Dahlonega gold become more interested in major die varieties, this coin should become more sought after in the future. Only specimens that show a sharp, clear trace of the first D qualify for examples of the 1846 D/D quarter eagle. Only a 10 specimens have been graded by PCGS. No Mint State coins are known.
