Quarter Eagles 1839 - 1859 Liberty Head 1840-1859
Diameter: 18 millimeters
Weight: 64.5 grains Fineness: .900
Edge: Reeded Designer: Christian Gobrecht

1845-D
Mintage: 19,460

The 1845-D quarter eagle is an underrated date in high grade. Most specimens have an average strike on both obverse and reverse with surfaces that usually come flawed with marks. Original, uncleaned examples have green-gold coloration and luster that is subdued. It is extremely hard to locate an example of this date with good eye appeal. Less than 150 specimens exist with 3 Mint State coins known.
